What does type of performance mean?
"Voices" is an orchestral work but also includes voice-over narrative during key points in the performance. If you are a musician and applying to compete musically, select Musician.
If you are a communications specialist and are competing to be the narrator, select Orator.
What are the repertoire requirements?
For Stage I of the competition (which this application is for), you must perform two pieces of contrasting style of standard literature. Please send a xerox of the music entered. All music will be destroyed after winners are selected. A minimum of four minutes is required. Quality of performance is more important than length of selection.

Gifted amateur applicants must be ages 5 to 21 by May 30, 2008.

Please include the following with completed signed applications. DO NOT SEND ORIGINALS. No documents will be returned. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  • A copy of your birth certificate or equivalent proof of age.
  • Two 4"x6" (inches) good quality black-and-white photos (close bust views only). Must be recent and suitable for publication.
  • Cassette Tape, CD or DVD recording of applicant performing required selections.
    Clearly mark the CD/DVD with your name and selection.
  • Include xerox of music played (CIDLM will destroy xerox after application has been reviewed).
  • A non-refundable application fee of:
    • $8.00 to compete but not for cash prizes.
    • $50.00 to compete for cash prizes.
    • Make payment in (USD) to C.I.D.L.M. in form of a cashier's check or money order.
      (Sorry, no personal checks).
  • Send application to:
