My Mission

Allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Marsha Perkins.
I love music! I've been teaching music for most of my adult life. Over the years I've wanted to make it possible that other, new, young musicians can have the opportunity to enrich their lives through music. Concours International De La Musique was created to provide a vehicle for the exploration of musical competition to enrich our lives.

In 2000, we had our first International Piano Competition for amateurs held in Cincinnati, Ohio. Then in 2001, we held our second Piano Competition. They were both a fantastic success. The grand prize winners, in each division, were invited to play at Carnegie Hall; a truly wonderful opportunity. This experience for many young pianists made a difference in their lives, not only by adding to their musical resumés, but also giving them a wonderful opportunity to perform in a place full of history and wonderment.

It was truly breathtaking.

Now I would like to continue this idea by helping to make "Voices, A Call for Peace Around the World" come to life in a musical production at Carnegie Hall.

My motivation for helping to produce "Voices" comes from an acknowledgment that our world is full of Wars, Violence, Tyranny, Corruption, Hunger, Poverty, etc. Evil and ignorance has an energy of its own which tends to overshadow the goodness and beauty that is found in mankind. I believe that through music we can educate humanity to recognize and defeat evil and ignorance. If a single person can be responsible for the death of millions through hate, imagine how we can inspire people of goodwill to rise up against future atrocities through God's language of music.

Good luck on this competition!

Sincerely,

Marsha Perkins
