CIDLM Rules
Purpose
The purpose of this contest is to create a fantastic ensemble of promising young non-professional gifted
musicians and singers that will perform a powerfully, uplifting cantata called
"Voices: Sounds From the Heart Around the World." This performance will take place at Carnegie Hall in 2009 (exact dates will be announced soon).
Participation
This contest is NOT for professional musicians, singers, or conductors. This contest is for amateur musicians twenty-five and under.
Contest Organization
The contest is in three stages. Below is are detailed requirements and rules for each stage.
Stage I
State I is an audition stage to qualify to compete in Stage II. Stage I requires the following:
- Complete the application for Stage I.
- CD or DVD recording of your performances of two pieces of contrasting style of standard literature. Please send a xerox of the music entered.
All music will be destroyed after winners are selected. A minimum of four minutes is required.
Quality of performance is more important than length of selection.
- A non-refundable application fee of
$8.00 if you want to compete but will not compete for cash prize.
$50.00 if you want to compete for cash prize.
All payments my be made to C.I.D.L.M. in U.S. Dollars in the form of a cashier's check or money order.
(Sorry, no personal checks).
- One letter of recommendation.
- Deadline for applications - extended until all positions are filled.
Stage II
Each winner from Stage I will be assigned a part in Voices with
instructions on where the part can be obtained. The contestant must send in CD or DVD performing their part no later than
September 1, 2008.
Winners of Stage II advance to Stage III. All winners will be posted on the web by September 30, 2008.

Stage III
Rehearsals for Voices are required (place and time to be announced).
